Chronicle 15: I Passed my Second Round of Unified Exams!

Hey everyone, I’m back with a new update to give you. I got the notification of all my Unified exam scores a few hours ago and the results were good, I passed both my exams! I was really worried about Biochemistry, but I’m happy to report that I passed it and my current course grade is now a C (74 %). I still have some work to do, but most importantly I passed! For Anatomy I passed as well and my current course grade for that is a C+ (78 %). I’m only 2 % away from a B- though, so I plan to push it for the final Unified in a few weeks and break into the B range. As I said, I still have a lot of improvement to do so I can start getting B’s and then A’s, but considering how last term was and the difficulty of the classes, the fact that I’m passing is still a success. I’l be sure to give an update when I know my final grades for each course, wish me luck!

Update: I Got Hit By A Car, But I’m Still Here.

Hey everyone after DrAnimaniac here and I am doing an update for you guys cuz I know its been a little over a week since I made a post and so I’ve been a little bit MIA and so I just wanted to basically explain why I’ve been MIA and to just get right out with it. Basically last weekend or I should say two weekends ago I on the 28th I was hit by a car crossing the street and so yeah as you guys know I am currently living in St Vincent and I am a medical school student here at Trinity School and so that saturday night we were going to celebrate a friends birthday party at a restaurant and to get there you have to cross the street and for Saturday night you know that you would imagine it’s kind of busy. So we were let off on the opposite side of the street and so we waited for an opening which you know if course you normally would do and so we had the opening but the problem is that here they have no set speed limit like at all, there are no speed limit signs and they have very limited crosswalks and stop lights and the street that we were crossing had neither of those things and also that street had a curve so when we were crossing there is no way to see you around that curve and I guess the driver I suppose couldn’t see around the curb either but it was still kind of a problem because he was driving so fast which again is okay because there’s no speed limit but you know you would think that he would have slowed down considering it was a curve but unfortunately they drive pretty crazy here so they don’t always do that and so it was really just an unfortunate case of he happened to be coming around the corner super fast at the same time that I was crossing and there is no way to avoid it. So at that point I basically just froze up and went into a defensive pose or hulk pose as i like to call it and basically put my arm up in defense and that’s actually what hit the car and I apparently in his hood so I find that kind of ridiculous and crazy and stuff but whatever. That made me fall like to the side on to my right wrist and so I ended up with a fracture and so that’s kind of annoying but it could have been worse but it wasn’t broken and then my knees got pretty badly scraped up so that was annoying too. so naturally once I kind of came to my bearings and was able to stand up and surprisingly I actually was not more hurt than I was I was able to stand. I never lost consciousness I don’t even think my head hit the ground so yeah I was definitely very lucky I was able to walk and get myself around but actually we still went to the hospital so a good Samaritan was passing by dropped us off there and then we were there for a while and they examined me, did xrays and all of that stuff and it was the really long wait because you know as you are as I thought are you guys are bad in terms of having to wait in the US but yeah it’s just as bad here especially because it’s free health care cuz its government run so you’re waiting even longer but yeah but anyway you know I got home at midnight with my pain meds and basically since then I’ve just been trying to heal and the biggest inconvenience of them my knees with your taking forever to heal up I mean seriously they are just its pretty bad. I put picture at the bottom but definitely you’re not going to look at them if you squeamish so just be prepared it’s kind of gross and there’s definitely some blood but that’s about it interesting at the same time. So hopefully nothing like that will ever happen again I mean it have to be like triple triple cautious now when I’m crossing the street even though I don’t really feel like it was my fault whatsoever but again you know it’s just one of those unfortunate things since they don’t have any speed limits or readily available crosswalks to get across  and they probably should fix that. So there’s a lot of follow up stuff had to do with that and I don’t feel like getting into all of that but all in all I am ok except for the fractured radial bone and my scrapped up knees but again since it was my dominant right hand it makes doing things pretty hard so making my post is difficult to its only reason I’m able to do it now its by using the speech to text option for my phone and using the app and so that’s how I’m probably going to make any future post I make for the next two weeks which is how long I should have this cast on but if it comes off I definitely will make up for some lost time and post about a lot of other things and do more reviews and stuff I just wanted to kind of give an update and let you guys know and all that stuff so yeah that’s basically it and as I said I posted pictures below so you can see my knees if you’re interested if not then you can just leave now, thanks for all your support and sorry for the probably horrid grammar and mistakes.

Chronicle 14: I Passed My First Round of Unified Exams!

I’m super happy today because I can finally rest easy about my first round of Unified exams. I’m only taking Anatomy and Biochemistry this term and I passed both exams with a 78 and 72 respectively. I of course would have liked to do even better on them, but considering my performances on my first exams last term, starting out this term with passing grades is a step up and a huge relief. I’m especially relieved about Anatomy since I am repeating it, so there is the pressure to do well this time, so I’m happy to see I was just shy of an 80. I’m certain that just a bit more will get me into the B range on my exams and depending on how well I push, passing the course with a high B is within my reach. I’m happy I passed, but Biochemistry was still a bit too close for comfort, so I’m really gonna try and push harder. Ideally, I’d like to finish this term with B’s at minimum in both subjects, and I know I can do it if I just keep pushing myself. I can definitely say though, that studying with others is a massive help in doing well, so I will definitely continue to do so. That’s all there is to report for now, so until next time.

Chronicle 13: Post-Uni 1 Boat Trip!

Hey everyone, I’m back again after a weekend boat trip where I took in loads of sun and had fun on the beach and different islands with my classmates. We went to several different islands over the course of the weekend and it was a lot of fun. I even learned how to swim thanks to everyone’s help. I’ve uploaded several pictures for you all to see. I even got some light sunburn on my shoulders. I had such a great weekend on the boat trip and it was a lot of fun hanging out with everyone. The perfect way to unwind after the stress of the Unified exams, so I’m really happy I went! We are now back into the school grind, though it’ll be a while before it gets too intense again. However, new stress is forming over how I did on the exams I took Friday, so I’m really hoping things turn out well. I’ll be sure to post an update once I know my final exam grades on Thursday. That’s about it for now, so until next time, thanks!

Video Chronicle 2: My Trip to Kingstown!

Hey guys, so as you know, I’m attending Trinity School of Medicine in St. Vincent, and it’s capital Kingstown is an easily accessible port town near campus. So my roommates and I decided to take a trip there to do some shopping and it was cool because I’d only ever been there once, briefly, during my orientation, but have never been back since, so it was nice to get there again. I’m not directly speaking in this video log, however I’ve included a couple of my recorded videos of the scenery on the bus ride back to campus. That’s all there is to update on for now, I’ll post again nearer to the first Unified exam.
